Troubleshooting the Cable

Cable fails to install

If your cable fails to install correctly or an error occurs during the cable installation process:

1. With the cable plugged in open the device manager

Device manager can be opened either by the control panel accessed from the start menu or by right clicking on the my computer icon on the desktop and selecting properties then clicking the hardware -> device manager option.

2. Once the device manager has opened check to see if you have a warning (!) symbol next to a device named (Vehicle PassThruInterfaces)

If you do then expand the menu + and right click on the device listed at the located and select update driver, a possible example is shown below.

Plug in the USB pen drive with the application and driver software.

Follow the update driver instructions as follows (OS dependant):

  • When asked, select (Install from a list or specific location)
  • Browse to the USB pen drive
  • locate the driver software which can be found in the route of the disk under the ‘drivers’ folder.
  • Select ‘x86’ folder for 32bit systems or ‘x64’ folder for 64bit systems.

3. If the problem is still not resolved then:

  • With the device manager window open, unplug the cable and check to see if a device is removed from the list,
  • Plug the cable back into the PC again and see if it reappears.
  • Once you have identified the device in this way, right click and follow the previous instructions for updating the driver software.
  • If problem persists check online for updated dsci software and drivers.
